Ausgestopfte Tiere bewegen sich

Hauptdarsteller dieser Arbeit, die zwischen Zeichnung, Malerei und Trickfilm angelegt ist, sind ausgestopfte Tiere der Naturhistorischen Sammlung des Stiftes Admont. In großen Vitrinen, bewusst noch ganz im Stil des 19. Jahrhunderts gehalten, werden dort präparierte Säugetiere, Vögel, sowie viele andere Exponate aus der Tierwelt gezeigt. Ich zeichne vor Ort mehrere ausgestellte Tiere. Das so entstandene Storyboard dient danach als Vorlage für die Malereien. Von den ausgewählten Bildern male ich je drei Wiederholungen eines Motivs. Beim Malvorgang ergeben sich Abweichungen. Somit sind die Wiederholungen im Detail nicht identisch. The main protagonists of this work which blends drawing, painting and animation are the taxidermied animals from the natural history collection of Admont Abbey. Large display cases, deliberately preserved in the style of the 19th century, showcase preserved mammals, birds and many other animal specimens. I sketch several of the exhibited animals on site. The resulting storyboard then serves as the basis for the paintings. From the selected images, I paint three repetitions of each motif. Variations occur during the painting process, meaning the repetitions are not identical in detail. The result is a painted film.
