WALK II (+ Kommentar)

WALK II. War in WALK die Bewegung in ländlicher Umgebung das Thema, so ist es in WALK II die Bewegung in urbanem Ambiente.
Bangalore, eine typische 3. Weltmetropole, die in den letzten Jahren buchstäblich explodiert ist, ist keine Stadt der bestechenden Architektur, sondern der sich in alle Richtungen ausbreitenden, chaotisch wuchernden Strukturen. WALK II gibt das Porträt einer Stadt, indem die dynamischen Mittel des Films und der Einzelbildtechnik angewandt werden, um die lawinenartige Bewegung der Menschen und die unzähligen Wahrnehmungssplitter zu einem ''Städtebild'' zu verdichten.
Der Film möchte aber auch persönliche Befindlichkeiten ansprechen, die im Ausgesetztsein, Machtlosigkeit und Mitgerissenwerden liegen. Das Ausgangsmaterial für den Film habe ich in der KG Road, Bangalore, aufgenommen: Eine durchgehende Aufnahme entlang der Straße und Diaserien. Dieses Material wurde am Tricktisch animiert und mittels Mehrfachbelichtung miteinander verschränkt.

While WALK focused on movement in a rural setting, WALK II explores movement in an urban environment.
Bangalore, a typical Third World metropolis that has literally exploded in recent years, is not a city of striking architecture, but rather of chaotically sprawling structures spreading in all directions. WALK II presents a portrait of the city by employing the dynamic techniques of film and single-frame photography to condense the avalanche-like movement of people and the countless fragments of perception into a cohesive "cityscape."
The film also aims to address personal feelings rooted in vulnerability, powerlessness, and being swept away. I shot the source material for the film on KG Road in Bangalore: a continuous shot along the street and a series of slides. This material was animated on a stop-motion animation table and interwoven using multiple exposures.
