How Do You Want M.?

Was hält der Körper unter den Bedingungen bild- und tonstellender Apparate alles aus? Und: Was kann der Körper alles werden, wenn er den Darstellungscodes eben jener Apparate tendenziell entweicht? MAZY („labyrinthisch”), nach der Choreographie von Willi Dorner, konzipiert entlang der Dispositive Video, Film und Computer drei Antworten: videographische Marionette, filmexpressionistisches Wesen, computerisierte Bewegungsspur. Die letzte Konsequenz dieser Traktierung zieht Michaela Schwentner in how do you want m.? Der Körper ist gewesen. Was bleibt, sind schwer lesbare, übereinander geschichtete und im Computer ausradierte Bildspuren, die sich zum Bewegungsspiel abstrakter Geometrien verdichten. Breakbeat-Fetzen treiben uns zu jener Stelle zurück, an der sich die Frage, wozu ein Körper in der Lage ist, erneut stellt.

What is the human body able to sustain when subjected to devices that record sounds and images? And what can be done with the human body when it tends to evade the representational codes of these devices? MAZY (meaning “labyrinthine”), based on the choreography by Willi Dorner, offers three answers formulated with the dispositives of video, film and computer: videographic marionette, expressive filmic being, and computerized trace of movement.

Michaela Schwentner draws the ultimate consequence of this approach in How do you want m.? The body is no more. What remains are nearly incomprehensible layered visual traces, created in a computer, that condense into abstract geometries in motion.
