Streifzüge durch das Linzer Industriegebiet

Weite Teile des Linzer Stadtgebiets sind Industriezone, durch Werkschutz und Zäune vom Stadtraum isoliert. Hinter den Zäunen liegen aber nicht nur Hochöfen und Produktionsanlagen, sondern ebenso große Flächen an Brachland. Wie kann man solche Orte besetzen, ohne sie zu besitzen? Wie angesichts so einer Brache den Intentionsnullpunkt finden?

Wir beginnen, das Areal Linz Ost zu begehen und nähern uns dem Ort behutsam an. Der Weg führt über Zäune und illegal durch das Werksgelände der Voest Alpine am Flussufer der Traun entlang bis zur Donau. Vier Jahre durchqueren wir das Brachland in unregelmäßiger Frequenz zu verschiedenen Tages- und Nachtzeiten und laden bisweilen Gäste ein, uns zu begleiten.

Strolls through the Linz industrial area

Large parts of Linz are designated industrial zones, isolated from the city by security and fences. Behind these fences, however, lie not only blast furnaces and production facilities, but also vast expanses of wasteland. How can one occupy such places without owning them? How can one find a point of zero intention in the face of such a wasteland?

We begin exploring the Linz East area, approaching the site cautiously. The path leads over fences and illegally through the Voest Alpine factory grounds, along the banks of the Traun River to the Danube. For four years, we traverse this wasteland at irregular intervals, at various times of day and night, occasionally inviting guests to join us.
